2017 Annual Trade 4’s

Berwick Amateur Rowing Club held their hugely popular Community Rowing Trade 4’s on Saturday 19th August.  The event was as usual really well supported with 15 crews entering.  The club is hugely indebted to the sponsors: Allan Brothers, Premier Builders, CJ Eke Builders, Berwick Decorating Centre, Tesco, Lilburn Estates, Lime Shoe Co, GM Craig Builders, Berwickshire Housing Association, Sanderson McCreath & Edney, Silvery Tweed, Lempitlaw Liveries, Stuary Riley Plumbing & Heating, Fraser McGregor Fencing,  Ford & Estal Estates, Greaves West & Ayre, Hilary Cairns Farm Secretarial Services, Berrydin Books, Tollfield Farm Kennels, 1st Class Foods, The River Tweed Whisky Co and Galedin Vets.  As a small sports club you financial support is much appreciated.

The ladies race attracted Caecum & Destroy, The Tooth Fairies, Cool Rowings, Follow the Yellow Brick Road, Back it Down Bees, Dumbledores Army and Marvel’ Lois Rowers. After the preliminary rounds Marvel’ Lois Rowers got past Caecum and Destroy to take their place in the final agains Back it Down Bees who had seen off challenges from The Tooth Fairies and Dumbledores Arms.  In an extremly close and exciting final Marvel’Lois Rowers came out delighted victors of the Ladies Medal.  In the ladies spoon final Cool Rowings lined up against Caecum & Destroy  with Cool Rowings keeping their cool to come from behind to take the spoon victory.

The Mens Medal was a round robin competition between The Lifeguards, The Oarsome 4 Some and Voldemorts Venom.  Again after some really close and exciting racing The Lifeguards came out as Mens Medal winners.

The Mixed Competition was contested by Goldilocks and the 3 Bears, Greaves West & Oar, Tesco Paddlers, Horcrux Horders and Well Recovered.  Greaves West & Oar added up their wins to get past Goldilocks and Tesco Paddlers to take their place in the final.  Well Recovered did not fall under the spell of Horcrux Hoarders.  So setting up the final with Greaves West & Oar and Well Recovered.  Greaves West & Oar rowed with determination to claim the Mixed Medal win.

In the Mixed Wooden Spoon Horcrux Hoarders used their magic to claim the spoon from Tesco Paddlers.

But the most coveted prize of the day.  The fancy dress prize went to Follow the Yellow Brick Road, Dorothy, Lion, Tin Man and Scarecrow, who’s fancy dress was fabulous.

The members of Berwick Rowing club would like to sincerely thank all the competitors who’s good humour and enthusiasm has made the 6 weeks of practice sessions and the Trade 4’s competition great fun.  The members took great pleaseure in seeing your rowing skills develop week on week.  We look forward to welcoming you all back next year.
